Longest pedestrian suspension bridge in the world • 494 m • Randa, Switzerland
The Charles Kuonen Suspension Bridge connects Randa and Grächen in the Swiss Alps. At 494 metres long, it was the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in the world at the time of its construction in 2017.
The bridge replaced an older structure damaged by rockfall. SWISSROPE designed and built the new bridge in just 10 weeks, using state-of-the-art damping technology to ensure stability even in strong Alpine winds.
Today, the bridge is an iconic attraction on the Europaweg and offers spectacular views of the Weisshorn and the Matterhorn.
